Vikramshila is based in Kolkata and has 137 staff working together to realise their mission to "make quality education a reality for all children in India".
Vikramshila works with teachers and teacher trainers, children and communities, government systems and educational institutions to bring about a transformation in education so as to make possible a world that is just, equitable and harmonious.

Through their various educational initiatives across India, Nepal and Bangladesh, over the last two decades, they have partnered with more than 120 grassroots level organizations in order to provide inservice and pre-service teacher training to more than 9000 teachers and through them reached out to more than 300,000 vulnerable children. In addition they have been actively advocating for children's right to education, equity and for strengthening the public education system.
The operational strategy of Vikramshila is simple – "keeping in heart the best interests of the child". From the very beginning children have been the guiding force of all that Vikramshila says and does.

Education to Employability
E2E supports Secondary School students bridge the gap between the classroom and the work place. Serving 6,500 students across 10 government schools, this innovative project sees students receive supports ranging from tutorial support (Maths/Science) to soft skills (teamwork, time management and communication skills). Job related skills (computer education and English communication) and a career guidance service are also provided.
Working in partnership with the Government schools and teachers, the majority of the interventions delivered during term time and on the school grounds. Vikramshila are rigorously monitoring the projects progress, with the aim of influencing the West Bengal education system with a proven model of excellence that enables students to progress to the next stage of education (academic, vocational or employment).
In its 2nd year of implementation the Education to Employability project is co-funded by Suas and the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation.
